This is more of just a context thing but no you don’t farm fur bearing animals just to be skinned. You farm them for their fur, and the fur is removed by skinning the animal. Not trying to be smart or snarky at all I promise (like seriously I hope it doesn’t come off that way) but there’s a lot of PETA and animal rights propaganda that tries to make it seem like the animals are only raised up just to be skinned in some sadistic way or that skinning is the only reason the animals are being farmed. The main product is the fur, but the carcasses are also used for organic compost, fertilizer, paint, soap, and other products. Sometimes the carcasses are donated to animal sanctuaries and zoos for feed, or donated as dissection specimens for educational purposes.
